Oculoplastics

Oculoplastic surgery includes procedures involving the eyelids, eyebrows, tear drainage system and eye socket. Medical Eye Specialists offers oculoplastic services in blepharoplasty, entropion and ectropion repair, tear drainage procedures, Botox treatment for blepharospasm and removal of lid lesions.

Oculoplastic Surgery

Sagging, heavy or hooded eyelids can result in loss of the upper portion of vision and contribute to eyes that look and feel fatigued. Causes of drooping lids include excess eyelid skin, lax muscle attachment to the upper eyelid and drooping of the brows.

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, removes excess tissue that weights down the lid.

Ptosis repair surgery reconnects the lid muscle to allow for normal lid height and function.

A brow lift procedure addresses heavy or drooping brows.

Eyelid Conditions

Inturned eyelids (entropion) can lead to painful rubbing of lashes against the eyeball and may lead to corneal damage and scarring.

Eyelids that turn out (ectropion) can lead to corneal exposure, tearing and recurrent infections.

Persistent tearing, in addition to being an annoyance, can lead to break down of periocular skin due to constant irritation.

Blepharospasm (frequent and involuntary blinking and clenching of the eyelids) and facial spasm can benefit from Botox injections.

Lesions and growths involving and surrounding the eyes can be removed and evaluated for abnormal or cancerous changes.
