Patricia A. Cosgrove, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Cosgrove was born in San Francisco and spent her childhood in Walnut Creek, California. She received both her undergraduate and medical degrees with Honors from the University of Washington. She earned a masters degree in Public Health from University of California, Berkeley, with an emphasis on the epidemiology of eye disease. Dr. Cosgrove joined Medical Eye Specialists in 1997 after completing her residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Cosgrove practices comprehensive ophthalmology including cataract surgery and eyelid surgery. She has participated in numerous international ophthalmology programs, and currently enjoys volunteering in Guatemala. Outside the clinic, she loves to ski, raft, hike and run to keep up with her husband and two children. Dr. Cosgrove is eternally grateful for her supportive family and the outstanding staff at Medical Eye Specialists.
Lisa A. Herrygers, M.D.
Dr Herrygers was born in Bozeman, MT and raised on a ranch north of Belgrade, MT. She went to a rural one-room school for elementary school and was valedictorian of her high school class in Belgrade. Dr. Herrygers graduated with highest honors from Montana State University with a B.S. in Microbiology. She worked in an immunology lab at MSU as a research assistant for four years prior to medical school. She received her medical degree from the University of Washington through the WWAMI program and completed her ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at the University of Arizona. She published several papers from research projects during her residency and fellowship. Dr. Herrygers joined Medical Eye Specialists in 2003. She specializes in glaucoma care and cataract surgery. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, taking care of her cows and horses as well as hiking in the beautiful mountains around Bozeman.
Kristy L. Moeller, M.D.
Dr. Moeller was born and raised in Hamilton, Montana. She received her undergraduate degree with Highest Honors from Montana State University in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. She completed medical school and her ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington, Seattle through the WWAMI program. Prior to joining Medical Eye Specialists, she worked as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Washington Ophthalmology Department helping to train residents. Dr. Moeller continues to be active in teaching ophthalmology to the local Montana WWAMI students and is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the University of Washington. She also completed a year of clinical research studying ocular inflammation as the National Eye Institute, a division of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Moeller joined Medical Eye Specialists in 2011. She specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology including advanced cataract surgery, intravitreal injections, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Moeller and her husband enjoy the Bozeman area mountain biking, skiing, and backpacking with their two dogs.
Joe Sheehan, M.D., M.S
Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, Dr. Sheehan holds an undergraduate and master’s degree in Nutritional Science from the University of New Hampshire, and medical degree from Chicago Medical School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington, Seattle. He was awarded a fellowship in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation of the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Sheehan joined the practice in 2014. Dr. Sheehan emphasizes in cataract, corneal, and anterior segment surgery, and the medical treatment of corneal and external diseases.
Angela Watkins, MD
Raised in Montana, Dr. Watkins attended Montana State University and earned a bachelor’s degree with highest distinction in biomedical sciences. She graduated from Oregon Health and Sciences School of Medicine and completed an ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute of OHSU in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Watkins returned to Bozeman in 2010, caring for Montana veterans as an ophthalmologist at the VA Clinic. In addition to providing full-spectrum eye care to the veterans, Dr. Watkins directed the implementation of Technology Based Eye Care Services for rural veterans in Montana. In 2018, she enthusiastically joined the staff of Medical Eye Specialists. Dr. Watkins cares for patients with a broad spectrum of medical eye conditions including diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma and dry eye. Other areas of expertise include cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, and intravitreal injections. Bozeman is home to the Watkins family, where they are raising three active children and strive to get outdoors as much as possible.
Callie Harberts, OD
Born in Helena, Montana, Dr. Harberts received her undergraduate degree from Rocky Mountain College and her Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. She completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care Optometry through the VA in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After practicing in Fort Wayne for several years, she and her husband, also an Optometrist, returned to Montana. Dr. Harberts joined Medical Eye Specialists in October 2016 and is now seeing patients of all ages. She provides complete vision care, treatment of eye diseases, and consultation for specialty contact lenses.
Shannon Currier, OD, FAAO
A fifth generation Montanan, Dr. Currier was born and raised in Helena, MT and did her undergraduate studies at Montana State University in Bozeman. She received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon and went on to complete an Ocular Disease and Low Vision residency at the Portland VA. She and her husband along with their daughter love the mountains of Southwest Montana and spend every free minute backpacking, fishing and four wheeling. Dr. Currier loves any opportunity for travel and adventure and has participated in three eye care missions to Guatemala and Peru. She is excited to be back in Bozeman working with Medical Eye Specialists and is seeing patients of all ages.
